Biography
Prof. Dr. Keping Yan received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics from Beijing Institute of Technology in 1983 and 1986, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in 2001. In 2006, he joined Zhejiang University as a full professor and was later appointed a Distinguished Expert of Zhejiang Province. Following his retirement in 2024, he has continued as a designated professor at the university.

With over 40 years of research and development experience in applied electrostatics, high-voltage power sources, and plasma technologies, he has co-authored more than 200 papers and holds over 50 patents. His notable awards include the Frederick G. Cottrell Award from the International Society for Electrostatic Precipitation (ISESP) in 2011, the First Prize for Marine Engineering Science and Technology from the Chinese Society for Oceanography in 2012, the Blue Sky Award from the China Society of Electrostatic Precipitation in 2015, the Second Prize of the Environmental Science and Technology Award from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in 2017, and the J.S. Chang Lecture Award from ISEHD in 2019.

He has also co-founded three companies to promote industrial applications of new technologies: Zhonghe (2004), Jinzhe (2010), and Yu Shou Sci & Tech (2022), focusing on high-voltage power sources, engineering services, and novel medical technologies, respectively.
Since 2004, he has served as a board member of ISESP and was President of the Society from 2008 to 2011. He has also served on the editorial boards of Chinese Science & Technology Review (since 2007) and other academic journals.
