Biography
Dr. Mudtorlep Nisoa is an Associate Professor at Walailak University and Head of the Center of Excellence for Plasma and Electromagnetic Waves (PEwave) since 2014. He received his Ph.D. in Plasma Physics from Nagoya University, Japan, in 2000, and his B.Sc. in Physics from Prince of Songkla University in 1990.
His research focuses on plasma and microwave technologies for sustainable applications in agriculture and food processing. He has developed systems for microwave drying, plasma sterilization, and plasma-activated water (PAW) production. His work has been recognized with the Outstanding Researcher Award from Walailak University in 2018 and 2023.
Dr. Nisoa is also actively involved in the development of high-density helicon plasma sources for fusion-relevant experiments and material surface treatment. In parallel, he has advanced research in high-power thermal plasma torches for applications in material processing, gasification, and hydrogen production. These technologies support both fundamental plasma science and industrial-scale innovation.
Dr. Nisoa has supervised over 10 graduate students and published more than 50 papers in international journals. He previously served as Dean of the School of Science (2013–2017) and leads research on applying physics and engineering innovations to real-world challenges.
