Biography
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wassanai Wattanutchariya is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, Thailand, and Head of the Advanced Technology and Innovation Management for Creative Economy (AIMCE) Research Group. He received his B.Eng. (Hons.) in Industrial Engineering from Chiang Mai University and completed his M.S. and Ph.D. studies in Industrial Engineering at Oregon State University, USA. His research focuses on plasma technology for food, agricultural, biomedical, and antimicrobial applications, particularly plasma-activated water (PAW), plasma-activated hydrogel (PAH), microbial inactivation, biomaterial development, and application-driven system engineering. His recent work has advanced PAW-based antimicrobial treatment toward hybrid plasma systems and plasma-enabled biomaterials for infection control and wound-care applications. He received the 2019 Inventor Award from the National Research Council of Thailand for his work on non-thermal plasma-activated water systems for foodborne pathogen inactivation.
