Biography
Dr. Anto Tri Sugiarto is a Senior Researcher at the Research Center for Smart
Mechatronics, National Research and Innovation Agency, Indonesia. He received his
Ph.D. in Engineering from Production Process Engineering, Gunma University, Japan in
2002, specializing in plasma discharge in liquid. He joined as an assistant professor in the
Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering at Gunma University, Japan, and
then returned to Indonesia to continue his plasma research.
Dr. Anto’s research interests encompass a broad range of plasma and fine bubble
applications, including plasma activated fine bubble water, water and wastewater
treatment, mining, agri-aquaculture, food preservation, medicine, energy and material etc.
He has published more than 85 peer-reviewed articles in reputed international journals
and authored two book chapters. He is also an inventor on fifteen patents related to plasma
and fine bubble technologies, with several of his innovations successfully transferred to
more than 100 industries for real-world applications. In addition, he as a founder of two
company working in plasma and fine bubble-based solutions for wastewater treatment,
agriculture, aquaculture, food preservation, medical and mining industries, etc.
His contributions have been recognized with prestigious honors, including the Masuda
Award (2002) from Institute of Electrostatics Japan and The Hitachi Global Foundation
Asia Innovation Award (2020). Dr. Anto also actively contributes to the scientific
community as an member editor for journals and as a reviewer for several impact journals.
